Will my electronic lock need to be reprogrammed if the battery goes dead or if I disconnect the battery on the outside of my keypad?
Generally, no, you should not need to reprogram your electronic safe lock if the battery goes dead or if you disconnect it temporarily.
Here's why:
Internal Memory: Most modern electronic safe locks have internal memory that stores your user codes and settings. This memory is typically battery-backed or independent of the main battery.
Temporary Disconnection: Briefly disconnecting the battery for maintenance or replacement should not erase the stored information.
However:
Manufacturer Variations: There might be slight variations depending on the specific model of your electronic safe lock.
Consult Manual: Always refer to your safe's user manual for the most accurate and up-to-date information on battery replacement and potential effects on the lock's settings.
Does the key in my manual dial lock bypass the combination? No, it does not. These key locks are more commonly known as “Day Locks”. They prevent the dial from being spun when the lock is engaged offering additional security.

My dial lock opens with a different combination than I was originally using, why?
This is a fairly uncommon issue with mechanical locks. “Drifting” is when your combination changes slightly over time to adjacent numbers. This can first be prevented by NOT throwing the dial or spinning too quickly. If your combo seems to change over time, we highly recommend reaching out to the manufacturer right away.
Do I need to maintain my safe?
All safes will require some maintenance over time. Each time you open / close your safe, pay special attention to changes in the operation of your lock and mechanism. Lock bars will often benefit from lube occasionally, batteries will need to be replaced, and heating rods will need to be checked. Desiccants will need to be recharged or replaced regularly.
My safe came with a battery. Why do I need to buy another new battery?
The most common issue with lock failure is improper battery voltage and/or amperage. ALWAYS replace batteries with quality brand name batteries with an expiration date at least 3 years in the future.
